Events are put on to enrich the curriculum and give students a greater understanding of Chinese culture. Past events have included:
songwriting workshops from the superb Transition band
environmental sessions by the Royal Scottish Zoological Society
Chinese sing-offs for primary pupils
inspirational input on the power of languages from Paul Hughes
Each year, we hold an event for high school pupils to celebrate their learning and inspire them to keep at it. We also hold an annual Chinese New Year buffet for pupils to come together from different schools and Chinese Culture Roadshows for primary schools. Pupils also get the chance to take part in national and local competitions, such as on speaking and listening, photography and song writing:
This is an opportunity for pupils who are learning Chinese in their schools with the Swire Chinese Language Centre Edinburgh to practise their listening and spontaneous speaking skills using a range of fun and interactive activities.
