Partnership is at the heart of everything we do at the Swire Chinese Language Centre Edinburgh. We are committed to meeting the Swire Chinese Language Foundation’s expectations of excellence, accessibility and aspiration.
We have limited capacity of teachers but are always happy to speak with schools interested in connecting with our Centre. Things that might be possible initially are:
Introductory sessions for pupils in primary and secondary schools not currently involved in Edinburgh and East Lothian, and possibly beyond. These sessions are a chance for pupils to try out Mandarin Chinese, raising awareness of the language and giving an insight to inform future language choices at school.
Mandarin learning blocks for high school pupils to experience a more in-depth introduction to Mandarin over a period of weeks.
Please contact Helen Boyd, Centre Co-ordinator, if you would like to discuss this or other ideas for bringing Chinese language and culture to your school.
invest in young people
We are keen to help our learners close the gap between what they learn in the classroom and the skills they will need in the workplace.
If you are an employer, business or professional body looking to engage with education and connect with young talent and linguists through work-base learning opportunities such as
Work experience placements
Certificate of Work Readiness
Foundation Apprenticeships
Or, pass on your knowledge of your sector through talks, workshops, or workplace visits
We love to hear from you.
Please contact Helen Boyd, Centre Co-ordinator.
